Let It Ride poker was first introduced to casino in 1993 and was created by a company called “Shuffle Master Inc”, (now called “SHFL Entertainment, Inc.”), which made automatic-shuffling machines. The game was initially developed not to make players happy, but for…
…marketing purposes. The ultimate goal was for Shuffle Master to get their new automatic shuffling machines onto casino floors.
In 1992 Shuffle Master, Inc. had developed the BG-1 shuffler. Although this technology was a significant improvement on human shuffling, most of the land-based casinos did not take to the new method. To overcome this, Shuffle Master, Inc. decided to come up with a new game that was tied to their new technology. So, Let It Ride poker was born.
Let It Ride was first seen on land-based casino floors in Reno, Nevada. As intended, the game increased the need for shuffling machines. Over the next few years, Shuffle Master released the BG-2 and BG-3 models. About five years after the invention of Let It Ride, shuffling machines started to become common in Las Vegas.
Although Let It Ride poker was initially created as a marketing tool, it has became a very popular and well loved game in the process. It offers:
- The potential for high payouts.
- An environment where players are not playing against each other or trying to beat the dealer.
- A camaraderie that develops in this fun atmosphere.
Today, Let It Ride poker tables and automatic shuffling machines are found at virtually all casinos.
